Miffy
Writing blogs, socials, and press releases as part of Miffy’s UK PR agency.
About the project
Miffy is a mid-century Dutch children’s character. Heavily influenced by the modernist works of Matisse and Mondrian, she’s known as a recognisable testament to Dutch design.
In the 21st century, she has been brought back to life by Gen Z, from Japan to East London. Her relevance outside of children's media was originally resuscitated by the ‘kawaii’ movement of the 2010s and is now stoked by the nostalgia-fueled toy trend. Walk through a university campus, and you’re almost guaranteed to see fine-line tattoos, tote bags, and key rings of the iconic rabbit.
I joined the character’s UK PR brand, Highlight PR, as a remote PR Assistant at just 17 years old. Over four years, I worked with account executives to handle the coverage of multiple international clients. I was also trained to write effective copy within brand guidelines.
My work with Miffy included writing press releases, blogs, and social media copy. Much of Miffy’s audience includes Gen Z and older consumers who grew up with Miffy. Growing this cultural relevance and converting nostalgia into meaningful action requires a strategic digital presence.
Alongside writing monthly caption schedules for Miffy's UK Instagram account (310k followers), I wrote press releases for Miffy’s pop-ups in London and blogs at miffy.com.
